THE COMPANY
Based in Prague, SmithNovak develops high-quality international conferences for the European Financial Services sector with leading events in London, Madrid, Milan and more.
THE ROLE
The successful candidate will be responsible for the production of our conferences including; content research, inviting and managing speakers, project management and on-stage management at the event.
After this initial phase, and once a full understanding of the business has been gained, including the Financial Services market we operate in, the successful candidate will also start to learn how to successfully sell sponsorship contracts to clients.
This role is therefore a very interesting mixture of; project management, research to find speakers and new content, being on-stage at our events, extensive communications with international clients and lastly, negotiating and selling sponsorship.
KEY TASKS
- Researching, finding and inviting (by telephone & email) senior level executives to present at our Conferences
- Managing the event project from initial design right through to on-site management and completion
- Managing the programme, writing presentation titles and negotiating with Speakers
- Researching the latest industry trends and developments
- Being ‘on stage’ at the event, taking responsibility for all aspects of the conference
- Contacting, selling and negotiating contracts with potential clients
THE CANDIDATE
You will be a true 'people-person'. We are looking for a confident character with excellent organizational and communication skills. Finding, inviting and securing high-level Speakers and Sponsors is not easy and requires drive, perseverance and relationship-building skills.
SPECIFIC SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- advanced English skills: verbal & written – all our events are in English
- a University degree
- at least 2-5 years’ experience in a similar or commercial role involving significant contact with external customers or suppliers
- experience in event management, recruitment, purchasing or sales would be advantageous, but not essential
OTHER SKILLS
- Advanced communication & organization skills - candidates must enjoy being highly sociable with clients
- Motivated and excited to learn and investigate new topics
- Persuasive, persistent, positive & energetic
- Driven: projects do not happen by themselves!
- A can-do, positive attitude and a willingness to take personal responsibility for the success of events
- Confident, fun and passionate with a desire to be in the spotlight, on-stage
WHAT WE OFFER:
This is an opportunity to learn all aspects of our business. We will teach you how to plan, structure and execute an event, both from a back-office/organizational point of view and also, from a client-facing business point of view.
We will teach you how to secure speakers and also, how to communicate with Sponsors to close contracts and manage client accounts.
We offer a good basic salary with significant performance-based commissions and the opportunity to become a key figure in a growing team. Our events take place around Europe and you will have the opportunity to travel 4-5 times per year to some of the most exciting cities in Europe.
