Can you explain legal risks clearly to senior management and propose solutions that work in practice? At 2JCP, we are looking for an experienced lawyer to lead the legal function across our international engineering group.
You will report directly to the CEO and advise management on commercial and strategic decisions. You will take responsibility for the group’s legal affairs while also drafting agreements, resolving legal matters and establishing policies that work in day-to-day operations.
What will you be doing?
- Providing legal support to the CEO and group management, assessing risks and recommending practical approaches to commercial, corporate and organisational decisions.
- Establishing and developing corporate governance policies across the group, covering signing authorities, powers of attorney, decision-making by corporate bodies and changes to corporate structures.
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial and intercompany agreements, including the legal terms of major customer, supplier and project arrangements.
- Managing the Contracts Manager and defining responsibilities across Legal, Contract Management and commercial and project teams, including rules for approving deviations and escalating risks.
- Building on the ongoing consolidation of documentation, conducting legal reviews and working with internal teams to introduce standard contract templates, effective record-keeping and approval procedures.
- Providing legal support to HR, addressing the protection of intellectual property and know-how, and developing compliance policies in cooperation with the relevant functions.
- Coordinating legal preparations for strategic projects and transactions, including legal due diligence, preparation of supporting documentation and remediation of identified issues.
- Managing external legal advisers in the Czech Republic and abroad, defining the scope of their involvement and monitoring service quality, deadlines and costs.
What will you need?
- A university degree in law and a strong practical knowledge of Czech law, particularly corporate and commercial law.
- At least eight years of legal experience, including experience advising corporate clients at a law firm.
- Experience independently drafting and negotiating commercial agreements and handling corporate legal matters.
- Experience with cross-border legal matters and collaboration with international colleagues or advisers.
- A strong command of English, enabling you to work independently with legal documents and conduct negotiations.
- The ability to explain legal risks to senior management, propose alternative solutions and consider their commercial implications.
- Independence, discretion and the ability to prioritise, follow through on tasks and secure cooperation across teams.
What would be an advantage?
- Experience with mergers and acquisitions (M&A), joint ventures (JVs) or legal due diligence.
- Previous experience in an in-house legal team, ideally including the development of legal processes or management of a small team.
- Experience in manufacturing, engineering, the energy sector or the delivery of large-scale technology projects.
What do we offer?
- Direct collaboration with the CEO and involvement in key decisions across an international group.
- An autonomous senior role with the opportunity to shape and develop the legal function over the long term.
- Varied work spanning corporate matters, commercial contracts and strategic projects in the Czech Republic and abroad.
- A fixed salary of CZK [insert salary range] gross per month, depending on experience.
- A 13th-month salary paid through quarterly bonuses.
- 25 days of annual leave and flexible working hours.
- Company-provided English lessons and discounted mobile plans for you and your family.
You will be based at our Prague office. The role will also involve visits to other group locations as required. We anticipate a start date in January or February 2027, or as agreed.
