Chief Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Chief Engineer to lead the Engineering team at Andaz Prague.

You will oversee the hotel’s engineering and maintenance operations, keeping its building systems safe, reliable, and efficient. Working closely with hotel leadership and operational teams, you will help protect the guest experience, maintain the property to a high standard, and minimize disruption during repairs and planned works.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the hotel’s daily engineering and maintenance operations.
• Ensure the reliable operation of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, building management, lift, fire, and life-safety systems.
• Plan preventive maintenance and oversee reactive repairs, work orders, contractors, and statutory inspections.
• Lead, develop, and schedule the Engineering team, ensuring appropriate coverage for daily operations and emergencies.
• Manage the Engineering budget, utilities, maintenance costs, purchasing, and capital expenditure proposals.
• Maintain compliance with Czech legislation, Hyatt standards, health and safety requirements, and safe working procedures.
• Drive energy, water, and sustainability initiatives while maintaining guest comfort.
• Work with hotel leadership and operational departments to support the guest experience and minimize disruption.
• Maintain accurate technical records, asset registers, inspection documentation, and engineering performance reports.

What we are looking for

• Proven experience in a senior hotel engineering or facilities leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of hotel building systems and preventive maintenance.
• Experience leading teams and managing contractors, budgets, and capital projects.
• A good understanding of health and safety, fire and life-safety systems, and statutory compliance.
• Strong English communication skills; Czech language skills are a significant advantage.
• A hands-on, guest-focused leadership style and the ability to manage emergencies and changing operational priorities.
• A proactive approach to maintenance, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
• Flexibility to support hotel operations, including shift work, weekends, public holidays, and emergency coverage.

Additional information

This is a hotel-based operational leadership role involving the Engineering team, building systems, plant areas, guest spaces, and back-of-house operations. Regular collaboration with other hotel departments is essential.

The position requires flexibility to support hotel operations, including weekends and public holidays, and to provide or coordinate emergency engineering coverage.
