JOB PURPOSE

  • To develop and implement sourcing strategies aligned with the Vision, Goal & Strategies of the Division to meet current and future needs of the business.
  • To effectively and efficiently source goods in a sustainable and timely manner to enable Parker to provide a positive customer experience.
  • To achieve the lowest TCO along while ensuring Supply Chain risk is mitigated.
  • To utilise strategic skills which are pertinent to maximize financial performance and efficiency to gain competitive advantage.
  • To ensure profitable growth by aligning sourcing activities with organisational goals.

MAIN DUTIES

  • Develop and implement plans to achieve Parker’s WIN Strategy for the Division.
  • Develop Category Strategies for allocated categories
  • Identify, evaluate and develop suppliers to meet the current and future needs of the business
  • Identify areas of risk in the supply chain, effectively prioritise, develop and implement plans to mitigate such risks
  • Reporting of KPI’s, analysis and development of improvement plans
  • Develop our supplier relationships and ensure >80% of allocated supplier spend is covered by Strategic Procurement Agreements which are managed and controlled in line with EBI requirements.
  • Manage supplier performance by way of recognising both positive and negative achievements and communicate effectively to promote the pursuit of excellence and best practice both internally and externally
  • Continuously benchmark suppliers, analyse pricing trends and utilise cost models to defend against price increases, achieve price decreases and best value/total cost of ownership solutions
  • Effective and timely project management and coordination of Supply Chain activities relating to NPD, Engineering changes and Cost Reduction to the point of production implementation
  • Responsible for the deployment of Sourcing Strategies, including leading all RFP activities and negotiations for nominated suppliers - both commercially and contractually - to ensure that KPI targets are met, risk is understood and managed, and supplier performance meets or exceeds business needs.
  • The Strategic Buyer will keep all internal stakeholders engaged, ensure buy-in and conclude competitive terms with selected suppliers in line with company governance
  • Understand and utilise the total cost of ownership (TCO) methodology in sourcing decisions and negotiations
  • Implementing supplier performance and relationship management to ensure improved and sustained supplier performance
  • Identify, plan and implement continuous improvement opportunities within the supply chain. Liaise cross functionally and across entities/BU’s to identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure all contractual terms and conditions are approved and corporate risk is minimized. Develop and implement contracts in order to minimise risk
  • Adopt “Best in Class” procurement processes, practices, methodologies and tools
  • Develop (or consolidate) and maintain a supply base of competitive and innovative companies
  • Develop and implement commodity strategies/services strategies as assigned, considering key industry, market and economic trends
  • Ensure that the business secures the optimal supplier base to meet long term business needs
  • Ensure relevant market trends are understood

JOBHOLDER REQUIREMENTS

  • Business or engineering degree ideally with CIPS or equivalent professional qualification
  • Proven experience in manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of purchasing procedures and standards
  • Knowledge of inventory and replenishment systems
  • Previous negotiation skills experience
  • Excellent IT and analytical skills
  • Project Management experience
  • Understanding lean tools and techniques
  • Understanding of Contract Law
  • Working knowledge of Incoterms
  • Ability to travel to meet business needs (~20% travel)
  • Analytical & Numerate - ability to collate and analyse data, and draw sound conclusions
  • Ability to conceptualize strategic elements of commodity supply and develop opportunities for improvements
  • Financial Analysis & Decision Making
  • Performs well in a team environment. Relates well in diverse groups of people and values diversity.
  • Drives the development of performance metrics and monitors the results to ensure success
  • Capacity and willingness to manage change
