The company is known for its strong brand, customer-first mindset, and continuous innovation in the retail sector.
Following a record-breaking year and continued expansion in Central Europe, our client is launching a new strategic finance function across its key markets. As part of this initiative, we are seeking a Senior Finance Expert to join the Czech entity and act as a key business partner across Czechia, Slovakia, and Slovenia.
Role
This is a newly created high-impact role with no direct reports but significant influence. You will act as the principal finance partner to the Country Manager (CZ/SK/SL) and collaborate closely with the Group CFO and Group VP Finance in Germany. Your mission: to connect business strategy with financial performance, drive profitability, and support agile decision-making in a dynamic retail environment.
This is not a role for auditors or accountants. We’re looking for a commercially minded finance expert who understands the retail business, can interpret complex data, and influence senior stakeholders with confidence and clarity.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Strategic Partnering: Serve as the go-to finance expert for the Country Manager and Group Finance leadership, owning the P&L and balance sheet for the region.
- Performance Management: Analyze and steer business performance across CZ, SK, and SL, identifying opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency.
- Controlling & FP&A: Lead financial planning, forecasting, and investment analysis, ensuring alignment with group strategy and local market needs.
- Reporting & KPIs: Define local reporting priorities, enhance group-level reports, and provide actionable insights to support decision-making.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with regional operations, finance managers, and HQ teams to ensure seamless collaboration.
- Compliance Oversight: Ensure adherence to local tax and accounting standards in coordination with group finance.
Profile/Core Competencies
- Experience: 8+ years in finance, including at least 4 years in FP&A or controlling in an international environment. Retail experience is essential.
- Mindset: Commercially savvy, hands-on, and able to connect financial insights with business outcomes. You’re a doer and a thinker.
- Skills: Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive change.
- Tools: Proficient in MS Office, Google tools, and SAP (S4Hana is a plus).
- Languages: Fluent in English and Czech/Slovak; German is a strong advantage.
