We’re looking for a skilled Project Design Engineer to join our Engineering Team. In this role, you will be the technical key player within the Project Team. Your main responsibility will be to ensure the correct design of biomass energy solutions for our customers, meeting both budget and deadline requirements. You’ll work on holistically designing biomass energy plants, calculating combustion systems, heat exchangers, and auxiliary equipment. Working closely with the Project Layout Designer, you will coordinate and follow up on the detailed project design.

ABOUT THE JOB

As our Project Design Engineer, you will:

• Take overall technical responsibility for your assigned VYNCKE project.
• Calculate energy plant specifications, including sizing of main components and auxiliary systems, in line with contract requirements, budget, and design standards.
• Develop the holistic design of the energy plant in collaboration with the Project Layout Designer, then create Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) based on the final design.
• Define water and steam flows, fuel feeding, and cooling circuits to ensure the plant achieves the guaranteed capacity, efficiency, and emissions.
• Monitor budget implications, prepare data sheets, and review construction drawings.
• Maintain close communication with suppliers and subcontractors to find the most suitable and cost-effective solutions.

ABOUT YOU

We imagine our ideal candidate would:

• Hold a degree in thermal engineering, power engineering, heating and ventilation, refrigeration, or have relevant experience.
• Have experience in thermodynamics, stress calculations and component design. Knowledge of boiler construction codes, machine design and piping design is an asset.
• Be willing to travel occasionally.
• Be a team player.
• Be fluent in English, both spoken and written. Local and other languages are an advantage.
