Main Mission of the Job
The Commodity Manager is responsible for defining, aligning, and implementing sourcing strategies for assigned commodities. The role supports Meopta’s business goals, R&D activities, and operational needs. It involves managing key supplier relationships with a focus on quality, logistics, innovation, and cost. The Commodity Manager also contributes to the development and execution of Meopta’s global procurement processes and supports new product introduction (NPI) projects through timely and effective supplier engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute commodity sourcing strategies aligned with business and operational needs
Lead supplier selection and qualification processes for new items in NPI projects
Conduct annual negotiations on pricing and commercial terms
Maintain and manage approved supplier lists and key supplier relationships
Evaluate potential suppliers based on quality, logistics, and innovation capabilities
Support cost management initiatives, including PPC targets and value-added projects
Design and maintain supply chain maps in line with strategic procurement
Ensure continuity of supply through risk assessment and capacity planning
Negotiate and manage supplier contracts
Monitor procurement KPIs and contribute to business planning
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure process efficiency and priority setting
Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulations, and safety standards
Lead and develop team members, including task assignment and performance evaluation
Promote continuous learning and development within the team
Skills and Experience Required
Master’s degree in economics or engineering
Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics or procurement
Strong communication and negotiation skills
High level of independence and stress management
Proficiency in MS Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word
Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
Knowledge of procurement processes, pricing, and contract management
Understanding of technical documentation and acceptance criteria
Strategic thinking and financial management capabilities
Experience with international relations and legal basics
Ability to manage supplier relationships and drive sourcing decisions
