About the role / PROCESS ENGINEER

Asteelflash, an EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services) company specializing in PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly), is seeking a Process Engineer to drive manufacturing automation. You will integrate SMT (Surface-Mount Technology) production equipment with AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robots), WMS (Warehouse Management System), ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), MES (Manufacturing Execution System), QMS (Quality Management System), and other enterprise applications to enable reliable, data-driven, end-to-end material and information flow. The role focuses on throughput, quality, traceability, and system uptime.

Key responsibilities.

  • Lead automation initiatives across SMT (Surface-Mount Technology) lines: solder paste printing, pick-and-place, reflow, AOI (Automated Optical Inspection), SPI (Solder Paste Inspection), and related processes.
Implement and sustain machine connectivity and data acquisition (e.g., SMEMA (Surface Mount Equipment Manufacturers Association),
  • IPC CFX (IPC Connected Factory Exchange), IPC HERMES 9852 (The Hermes Standard), enable traceability, recipe management, and closed-loop feedback.
  • Integrate production systems with WMS (Warehouse Management System) and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) via MES (Manufacturing Execution System):
o Align MES–WMS–ERP (Manufacturing Execution System–Warehouse Management System–Enterprise Resource Planning) data flows for work orders, BOMs (Bills of Materials), routings, and inventory.
o Enable kitting, line-side staging/supermarket, eKanban (electronic Kanban) replenishment, and backflushing/consumption postings.
    o Ensure lot/UID (Unique Identifier) tracking, FIFO (First-In, First-Out)/FEFO (First-Expired, First-Out).
o Define and maintain interfaces/APIs (Application Programming Interfaces), labeling/barcoding per GS1 (Global Standards 1) standards, and exception handling.
  • Deploy and optimize AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robots)-based material handling between warehouse and production lines; configure dispatching, docking/handshakes, and two-way events with WMS (Warehouse Management System)/MES (Manufacturing Execution System).
  • Design digital workflows, dashboards, and reports (e.g., OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), FPY (First Pass Yield), alarms, machine status) and drive actions based on insights.
  • Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Logistics, and IT (Information Technology) on equipment commissioning, NPIs (New Product Introductions), and change control.
  • Manage suppliers and projects, including FAT/SAT (Factory Acceptance Test/Site Acceptance Test), acceptance testing, and applicable validations.
  • Identify bottlenecks; improve takt time, ergonomics, and poka yoke (error-proofing).
  • Create and maintain standard work, work instructions, and training for operators and technicians.
  • Ensure compliance with IPC (Association Connecting Electronics Industries) standards, ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) controls, MSL (Moisture sensitivity level) controls, safety regulations, and company policies.

Qualifications?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Electrical/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field; or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services)/SMT (Surface-Mount Technology) manufacturing or industrial automation, ideally with machine/system integration.
  • Working knowledge of industrial interfaces and machine communication (SMEMA (Surface Mount Equipment Manufacturers Association), IPC CFX (IPC Connected Factory Exchange), IPC HERMES 9852 (The Hermes Standard), barcode/RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification)).
  • Hands-on experience or strong familiarity with MES/WMS/ERP (Manufacturing Execution System/Warehouse Management System/Enterprise Resource Planning) integration and traceability concepts.
  • Basic scripting and/or database skills (e.g., Python, SQL (Structured Query Language), REST APIs (Representational State Transfer Application Programming Interfaces)) are an advantage.
  • Strong analytical thinking, documentation discipline, and project/vendor management skills.
  • Proficiency in English for technical documentation and supplier communication.
