Job Purpose:
The Controllership Analyst is a member of the Controllership team reporting to the Controllership Manager EMEA, based in Prague and will contribute to the timeliness and reliability of group reporting as well as the statutory, tax and other internal and external reporting in EMEA region. The role will work closely with Accounting Operations, local subsidiaries and external advisors and auditors. The position is also responsible for training and coaching junior team members. ensuring the working standards are met across the entities. Be the first point of contact for issue resolution.
Principal Responsibilities of the role:
- Cooperate on review and monitoring of the accounting practices to ensure actual results are reported in compliance with Group accounting rules and policies.
- Ensure the monthly audit of accounting operations (entries and supportive documentation) and ensure IFRS audit files are prepared for all entities in scope.
- Coordinate and work with local consultants and Accounting Operations on preparation and submission of statutory statements.
- Coordinate and work with local consultants and Accounting Operations on preparation, submission and payment of income tax returns, VAT returns and other tax returns incl. the calculation of deferred tax.
- Coordinate and work with local consultants and Accounting Operations on preparation and submission of the Intrastat reports and other (e.g. statistical) reports.
- Support all audit-related activities including statutory audits, tax audits and also internal audit in relation to controllership processes
- Calculate and track the annual transfer price adjustment of subsidiaries, respecting the rules and the Group in relation to the Group Tax Manager.
- Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations.
- Management of the fixed assets physical counts.
- Calculation of standardized provisions and accruals.
- Standardize the processes across different entities, propose automation solutions.
- Propose corrective actions to be implemented where appropriate.
- Propose any improvement of information systems and procedures and alert in case of drift.
- Participate in respect of internal control to reliable process of the entire structure.
- Support the Controllership manager with ad hoc projects, issue resolution.
- Continuously train and coach team members and participate in preparation of cross trainings for other departments/functions.
Requirements / Expectations:
- Finance, Accounting - related bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 5 year experience in a similar tax, accounting or audit position
- Advantage if holds or is currently studying for a professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent)
- Knowledge of IFRS
- Advanced MS Office package (especially Excel), familiarity with SAP an advantage
- Comfort working with senior leaders internationally; ability to maintain composure and strict confidentiality with privileged information and serve as a business partner
- Demonstrate appropriate understanding / working knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls, and apply them
- Prioritize workload and meet strict deadlines. Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey a story using data
- Ability to look for, identify, and resolve data discrepancies
- Working language English
