Park Lane International School is seeking an experienced and visionary leader for the role of Director of Sport, who will oversee Physical Education and sports across the whole school (EYFS, Primary, and Secondary) and play a key role in the planning and launch of a new school sports complex.

This role combines educational leadership, strategic planning, and project management. We are looking for someone who can inspire students and colleagues, strategically develop the sports program, and efficiently coordinate operations across multiple campuses.

Fluency in both Czech and English and familiarity with the sports environment in Prague are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Development

  • Develop and implement a 3–5 year PE and sports strategy aligned with IGCSE and IB programmes.
  • Collaborate with school leadership on the long-term direction of sports, including planning for the new sports complex.
  • Develop the PE curriculum (EYFS, Primary, Secondary), including extracurricular activities and competitions.
  • Introduce innovative approaches (including technology and data) to enhance teaching quality and student engagement.
  • Develop Outdoor Education and student sports leadership programmes.


Programmes & Events Coordination

  • Organize sports days, tournaments, house systems, and inter-school competitions.
  • Build partnerships with local and international schools, clubs, and sports organisations.
  • Communicate with parents and the school community, showcasing the school’s sporting achievements.

Operations & Logistics

  • Strategically plan budgets (transport, facilities, equipment, teams).
  • Coordinate external sports facilities across Prague (parks, pools, stadiums, etc.).
  • Ensure safety, risk management, and compliance with HSSS standards.
  • Collaborate on planning the use of the new sports complex.

Team Leadership

  • Lead a unified PE team across all campuses.
  • Support professional development of teachers and coaches.
  • Use a coaching leadership style to promote teaching excellence.
  • Oversee all staff involved in school sports (internal and external).

Student Development & Wellbeing

  • Support talented athletes while promoting balanced development.
  • Develop student leadership in sports (captains, referees, assistants).
  • Build an inclusive environment encouraging participation of all students.
  • Implement a transparent system for assessment and progress tracking.

Requirements:

Qualifications & Experience

  • University degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or related field.
  • Teaching qualification with at least 5 years of experience.
  • Experience in leading a PE team.
  • Experience in an international school is an advantage.
  • Experience teaching across different age groups.
  • Experience in project management or sports facility development is a plus.
