Your role
Corpay is currently looking to hire a Team Lead Accounting with German language skills within our Plugsurfing division. In this role, you will have full accountability for your responsibility areas and work closely with the rest of the Finance team to ensure high-quality accounting data to support business decisions and meet the company’s compliance requirements. You will be responsible for the statutory accounting of Plugsurfing GmbH and ensure tax compliance in your areas of responsibility. You will also lead the audit process from the accounting side and contribute to accounting-focused development processes. You will manage an accounting team of three employees and report to the Finance Director, Plugsurfing.
How We Work
As an Accounting Team Leader, you will be expected to work in a hybrid environment (on average 2 days home office vs 3 days in office presence).
Corpay will set you up for success by providing:
- Assigned workspace in the Prague office
- Company-issued equipment: laptop, monitor, and accessories + remote access for the Home Office Days
Role Responsibilities
- Taking the lead on the operational accounting (AP and AR) for Plugsurfing GmbH to ensure timely and accurate payment to suppliers and sales invoices raised
- Assure reconciliations of financial statements in line with US GAAP and HGB (German GAAP)
- Leading the statutory monthly closing process and validation of the financial data
- Working closely with the FP&A / Controlling Team to ensure high-quality monthly financial information
- Submit the data for monthly VAT declarations to tax advisors
- Developing and maintaining accounting processes together with the finance team to meet company targets and compliance requirements
- Participating and supporting the Plugsurfing audit activities and development projects
- Be the key contact person for the auditors of Plugsurfing GmbH
- Supporting the Finance team with ad hoc analysis and reporting as needed
- You would assume the Team leadership for 3 Accounting colleagues
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting or Finance
- 6+ years of experience as a Financial Accountant
- All professional accounting qualifications (ACCA, CIMA, Bilanzbuchhalter, other international or national accounting qualifications) are very welcome
- You are fluent in English (at least B2) and German (at least B1) both in written and oral forms
- You have a good understanding of accounting standards (e.g. German GAAP, US GAAP, IFRS, etc.)
- You have strong accounting skills and a can-do attitude with attention to details
- Our main ERP is Dynamics D365 so experience with Dynamics, Navision or Business Central is very beneficial
- You have a strong tolerance to uncertainty and adaptation to a quickly changing work environment, are comfortable making decisions in your responsibility area quickly without all the information
- You are a fast thinker and able to quickly respond to multiple stakeholders
- You have high IT literacy and can deal with large data sets
- You are energetic, resourceful, and do what it takes to get the job done. Additional qualifications
- Experience with payroll accounting it is a plus
- Understanding of German and international VAT taxation is an asset
- Previous experience in working with payment service providers (e.g. Stripe,)
- Knowledge of Dutch, Polish, or Swedish is an additional asset
- Working as a part of the Corpay team, you will need a hands-on attitude, which means taking responsibility, working transparently, bringing your own ideas to the shared table, and getting things done.
