About the Role
Meopta is seeking a world-class expert in high fluence optics to lead advanced research and development in optical coatings and laser damage mechanisms. This is a strategic role at the intersection of physics, materials science, and precision engineering — ideal for a PhD-level professional with deep expertise and a passion for pushing the boundaries of optical performance.
You will be instrumental in modeling, simulating, and optimizing optical coatings for high-power laser applications across DUV, VIS, and NIR spectra. Your work will directly influence the next generation of semiconductor manufacturing, metrology, and aerospace technologies.
Your Impact
- Simulate and model stress, absorption, delamination, and lifetime behavior of optical coatings.
- Predict LIDT and failure mechanisms using advanced theoretical frameworks.
- Design and evaluate experiments using AFM, SEM/TEM, SIMS, XPS, XRD, LEIS.
- Define and refine technological routes for optical component production.
- Drive continuous improvement in polishing, cleaning, coating, and contacting processes.
- Collaborate with global customers and lead technical discussions.
What You Bring
- PhD in Laser Optics, Material Science, or related field.
- 5 years of experience in high fluence optics (DUV/VIS/NIR).
- Proven expertise in optical coating simulation and light-matter interaction.
- Hands-on experience with laser damage analysis and lifetime failure studies.
- Strong background in DoE and analytical instrumentation.
