Technical Writer (External Contractor for Thermo Fisher Scientific)

SPSOFT is currently looking for a Technical Writer who will be fully dedicated to supporting Thermo Fisher Scientific in Brno.

Thermo Fisher Scientific develops and manufactures innovative electron microscopes and spectrometers. These tools participate in the research of the ZIKA virus, HIV, and help enable the shrinking of mobile phones. The company is the largest producer of electron microscopes in the world, continuing a tradition spanning more than 70 years.

Although the successful candidate will be employed by SPSOFT, they will work exclusively for Thermo Fisher Scientific, operating on-site at Thermo Fisher premises and collaborating closely with internal teams.

How will you make an impact?

As a Technical Writer, you will be responsible for the maintenance of service documentation and its content directly for our customer operating in the high-tech equipment manufacturing industry. Your main responsibility will be to keep technical documentation up to date and at a high level of quality. You will modify service procedures based on defined requirements in close cooperation with subject matter experts, production engineers, and other departments.

Main Responsibilities:

• Developing service documentation for our instruments in Technical English, using FrameMaker, Microsoft Word, and/or a Content Management System (CMS)
• Acquiring, evaluating, and incorporating information from subject matter experts
• Implementing internal corporate design guidelines
• Creating and editing existing manuals and pictures
• Independently collaborating on multiple projects simultaneously
• Willingness to learn and adapt to changing working methods, including the use of AI tools
• Cross-departmental communication (production, engineering, service, and others)

Requirements:

• Secondary school or university degree in a technical field
• Knowledge and active use of standard Microsoft Office applications; CMS experience is an advantage
• English language proficiency at a communicative level in a multicultural environment
• Proactive and detail-oriented approach to work
• Very good communication and organizational skills
• Mental resilience to work in a fast-changing environment
