The Lawyer (He/She) (Fixed-Term/Backfill position) is responsible for providing a comprehensive legal support to MetLife Czech branches, legal risk mitigation and solution oriented legal advice. This role is a partner to business, operations and other functions in navigating a highly regulated and complex environment.

You will be directly involved in providing legal solutions, while advising on complex regulatory and commercial matters in a dynamic and interesting environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Complex legal support and legal advice for branches of MetLife Europe/MetLife Europe Insurance in the Czech Republic
• Manage and support active and passive litigations, Financial arbiter cases, ADR cases and criminal proceedings
• Cooperate on handling of complaints
• Legal support for HR Dept. in labor related matters
• Cooperates on the local and global projects from the perspective of local and EU legislation/regulation
• Monitors legislative changes and case law in the assigned tasks and provides legal support for the implementation across the company
• Review of internal policies from a legal perspective
• Review of the contracts with business partners, distributors, service providers and other third parties
• Cooperation with external legal counsels
• Review of policy documentation for individual and group products (insurance terms and conditions, pre-contractual and contractual documentation)
• Handling of the data box

Required Qualifications

• University degree in Law in the Czech Republic
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in‑house legal role and/or in a law firm
• English language proficiency at C level (written and spoken), enabling daily cooperation in an international environment
• Experience with advising on commercial, corporate, customer protection, litigations and regulatory matters
• High level of personal integrity, accountability and professional judgment
