  • Location: Prague 4, Czechia
  • Type of cooperation: Employment Contract for a part-time (0.5 FTE; 20 hours/week) and fixed term (1 year) with the possibility of extension
  • Preferred start date: as soon as possible

We are currently looking for a new colleague to secure press coverage and incentivize media interest in our medical work, our patients’ stories, and other important humanitarian issues - all in line with our principle of témoignage. The successful candidate will work within the communications team and media unit of MSF CZ, where they will ensure a high-quality press outreach as well as write articles for MSF website and publications.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Securing impactful and consistent media coverage of medical and humanitarian projects and raising awareness about the situation in crisis areas where MSF operates
  • Selecting appropriate topics to generate media interest and proactively establishing media partnerships (knowledge of the Czech media market is highly desirable)
  • Handling media inquiries and scheduling interviews with the organization’s key representatives/spokespeople
  • Proactively pitching topics and maintaining collaborations with media outlets/journalists
  • Writing and editing press releases and other materials (e.g., media kits)
  • Media monitoring and reporting
  • Maintaining media contact list
  • Assisting with the organization of press conferences and briefings

Other activities:

  • Collaboration on developing a strategy to ensure media coverage in key and priority media outlets, working closely with the Senior Press Officer
  • Supporting the communications department in other areas in cooperation with team members and the Head of Communications
  • Contribution to the creation of additional content, including the donor magazine, annual reports, and social media content
  • Cooperation with the fundraising team on campaigns or other activities, if relevant

WHAT WILL YOU NEED?

  • A university degree (completed or ongoing) in journalism, communications, international relations, political science, or a related field
  • At least 1 year of professional experience, ideally as a journalist or in a position at another non-governmental organization or marketing/PR agency
  • Excellent knowledge of the Czech language (writing, translations)
  • Fluent English (C1); knowledge of other languages, such as French, Spanish, or Arabic, is an asset
  • Excellent ability to prioritize tasks and manage your own time
  • The desire for a teamwork and a commitment to work towards shared goals
  • Knowledge of various digital tools or AI tools to help the efficiency of completing key tasks is an advantage
  • User knowledge of MS Office (we work on the MS 365 platform)
  • Willingness to undertake short-term field visits or mission is a plus
  • Enthusiasm and interest in humanitarian and medical aid issues, and alignment with our organization’s values and charter.
