As an “R&D Development Engineer for Surface Process Technology,” you are the expert in the development, handling, and application of various coating, corrosion protection, and flocking solutions. The focus of your role is on defining and supporting existing and new production processes, continuously improving process workflows, and ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.

• As an R&D Development Engineer, you will develop and optimize process and coating solutions for the finishing of our products - processes ranging from cleaning and oiling to spray, dip, and flocking methods.
• Based on research and analysis, as well as through test series and pilot processes, you will evaluate and test the feasibility of these new and optimized process technologies - such as new corrosion protection or adhesive systems for our automotive springs.
• You tackle specific problems using a structured approach, establish the necessary foundations where needed and develop new solutions in collaboration with process specialists.
• You actively maintain relationships with chemical suppliers, service providers, and technology suppliers, as well as universities, thereby expanding your network - including collaborating with chemical suppliers on the development and testing of future coatings.
• Thanks to your expert knowledge, you serve as a key point of contact for the business and production teams regarding fundamental questions about implementing technologies in applications, planning technology expansions, and introducing them on the shop floor.
• Technical Support: Assisting with the application of coatings in our plants, including organizing, conducting, and evaluating necessary tests.

WHAT WE EXPECT

• You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technical field: surface engineering, chemical engineering, materials science, process engineering, or a similar qualification.
• Experience with surface pretreatment processes, preferably in the automotive industry.
• Knowledge in the areas of cleaning, zinc flake coating, and flocking of springs/small parts is a plus.
• Ability to work independently, analytical thinking, a high degree of personal responsibility, and an effective approach to problem-solving.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in an international environment.
• Communication and documentation skills (spoken and written English); German is a plus.
