Our team of 400 professionals specializes in power trading, transforming complex data into market-leading trading strategies through advanced technology and sophisticated quantitative modelling.

We are looking for a regulatory lawyer / compliance counsel.

What you would work on?

• Serving as a member of the compliance and legal team supporting Second Foundation's regulated trading activities across financial markets, energy and commodities, and corporate operations.
• Supporting compliance workstreams from planning through delivery – including regulatory analysis, risk assessment, and translating obligations into practical internal requirements.
• Monitoring regulatory developments relevant to the energy trading sector (REMIT, MAR, MiFID II, EMIR) and translating findings into actionable compliance improvements.
• Tracking evolving regulations across financial markets, energy, and general corporate compliance (including ČNB, BaFin, FINMA, and EU-level rules) and working as part of the legal and compliance teams to ensure the group meets its obligations across all jurisdictions.
• Supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of internal compliance policies, governance frameworks, and incident escalation procedures.
• Coordinating with trading, risk, finance, and IT teams on policy implementation, control design, and day-to-day compliance queries.
• Responding to regulatory inquiries, internal investigations, and incident reviews – including reporting, remediation, and stakeholder communication.
• Managing relationships with external counsel, auditors, and regulators.
• Counterparty and supplier due diligence, KYC, and onboarding analysis in line with regulatory and group requirements.
• Working alongside the best mathematicians and engineers (and lawyers!) in the world.

What makes you a great candidate?

• 2+ years in law firm or corporate environment.
• Exposure to financial markets, energy, or general corporate regulation – any combination welcome.
• Strong project management skills – ability to plan, coordinate, and deliver compliance workstreams across teams and deadlines.
• University education in law.
• English – C1 level and preferably fluent Czech/Slovak.
• Familiarity with MiFID II, MAR, REMIT, EMIR, GDPR, or comparable regimes is a great advantage.
• Excellent communication skills – ability to explain regulation to non-lawyers and translate legal requirements into practical guidance for technical and commercial stakeholders.
