The School of International Relations and Media Studies at the University of New York in Prague invites applications for a full-time Research Lead in International Relations to take ownership of the Section of International Relations’ research output, support its grant and publication work, and contribute to teaching. The person selected for the position will coordinate the Section’s research efforts within the International Relations section and will maintain a small teaching engagement.
Who are we looking for:
- PhD in International Relations, Political Science, Security Studies, or a closely related discipline (or close before obtaining a PhD).
- Sustained record of peer-reviewed research.
- University-level teaching experience in English.
- Experience participating in grants, funded projects, or contractual research.
- Capacity to coordinate and support the research of colleagues.
- Full professional English (UNYP's working language).
- Eligibility to work in the Czech Republic.
What you will do:
- Lead, develop and coordinate the Section’s research output (including the Section’s research centre, where applicable): leading, engaging and supporting faculty.
- Work with the Dean of Research to identify funding opportunities, develop grant applications, and encourage and support the participation of relevant faculty members.
- Produce research outputs with a yearly target equivalent to one high-quality peer-reviewed publication per year (Category I of the Czech Metodika 25+), in particular journal articles in journals indexed in Web of Science and Scopus and monographs, edited books and book chapters with respected international publishers, in accordance with UNYP’s research evaluation framework.
- Report to the Dean of Research on publication progress and contribute to related reporting.
- Help organize and take part in the Section’s research events: colloquia, conferences, and seminars.
- Teach one or two semester-long courses per academic year (depending on research project involvement) and serve as course guarantor under the Czech accreditation framework for two elementary International Relations courses.
