Technical Purchase Specialist
You will join product development projects at an early stage and help ensure that new components can be manufactured, sourced and delivered reliably. Acting as a link between R&D, procurement, the supply chain organization and suppliers, you will help turn evolving technical requirements into a sustainable supply chain setup.
What you will do:
- Represent procurement in cross-functional Tescan product development projects.
- Work with R&D and Category Managers to define new components, materials and bill of materials structures with manufacturability and sourcing feasibility in mind.
- Identify and propose suitable suppliers or manufacturing options for components whose technical parameters are still evolving.
- Contribute to supplier selection and allocation in line with established category and procurement strategies.
- Support Make or Buy decisions by considering cost, technical capability, delivery requirements and long-term supply continuity.
- Place orders for prototypes and samples, manage supplier confirmations and fulfilment, and accurately record transactions in the information system.
- Keep project documentation up to date and maintain transparency around supplier decisions, delivery schedules and project status.
- Participate in Supply Chain meetings, inventory optimization activities and other technical procurement tasks.
What we expect:
- You have a technical education, such as industrial engineering or a related field, or a background in project management.
- You bring at least 5 years of experience in a similar role within a technical environment.
- You can manage several assignments at the same time and work confidently with complex information from different sources.
- You are comfortable working with technical ambiguity and product definitions that continue to evolve during development.
- You can translate the needs of R&D and Production Engineering into clear and practical supplier requirements.
- You consider alternative scenarios and make decisions that support product performance and long-term business continuity.
- You communicate clearly and work constructively with colleagues across the company and with external partners.
- You communicate in English at a minimum B2 level.
